Mercedes-AMG GT R on video. What ABUSE of a car!

Anonim

Known as “the beast of Green Inferno”, the Mercedes-AMG GT R was once the fastest rear-wheel drive on the Nürburgring (it covered the circuit in just 7min 10.9s ), and today he is the protagonist of another video on our YouTube channel.

In this video, Diogo Teixeira took the German sports car to Alentejo and there he dedicated himself to exploring all the capabilities of the model, which was the target of a facelift this year, which brought, among other news, new headlights, a 100% digital quadrant and digital displays in place of traditional analogue controls.

Bringing life to the Mercedes-AMG GT R is the monstrous “Hot V” V8 biturbo 4.0, mounted behind the front axle and offering 585 hp and 700 Nm of torque , numbers that allow you to reach 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6s and reach a maximum speed of 318 km/h.

There is no lack of extras

Equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (placed on the rear axle for better weight distribution), the Mercedes-AMG GT R was the first Mercedes-AMG to receive four directional wheels.

To ensure that its weight remains low, Mercedes-AMG has invested in carbon fiber, which we find in the roof, front stabilizer bar and… in the transmission axle, just like in the Alfa Romeo Giulia.

Among the extras that equipped the unit that Diogo tested, the ceramic brakes stand out, which cost around 7000 euros. However, as you can see in the video, these are a welcome extra, especially when it comes time to stop the 1630 kg that the GT R weighs (142 kg more than a Porsche 911 GT3).

Finally, although when talking about fuel consumption in a car like this they may seem like a secondary issue, they are close to 20 l/100 km with sometimes more committed driving, and, calmly, it is possible to walk in the 12 l /100 km.
