Cold Start. Manual cashier with the numbered days? Not on the Porsche 911 GT3

Andreas Preuninger, the head of Porsche's GT division, predicts that 40% of the new customers will 911 GT3 (992) opt for manual transmission over automatic (PDK), a surprising number, but one that has a solid base of support.

“We lost several bottles of wine on take-up rate bets when we reintroduced the manual option (NDR: happened in 2017 with the 991.2 generation GT3). We were surprised how high it was,” Frank-Steffen Walliser told Autocar, Porsche's competition director.

Overall, the adherence rate was 30%, a value up to 20-25% of the other 911. And the main “culprits” are the… North Americans. In the US, the manual gearbox adherence rate on the 911 GT3 is an incredible 70%!

It seems that there are still many who enjoy the interaction and pleasure of manually changing relationships rather than obsessively chasing the best lap time; leave that mission to the 911 GT3 RS. #savethemanuals
