In an era where cars are all quieter, Chevrolet has just published a short video — it's only 24 seconds... — where we can hear the next Corvette Z06 “screaming” in all its splendor.
The current Chevrolet Corvette C8, the eighth generation of the North American model, was launched two years ago. Now, from a video shared by the brand, we can hear the sound of its next “spicier” version, the Corvette Z06.
And as if this version wasn't already a reason of interest in itself, there is a detail in the video that is impossible to ignore: the sound of this “Vette” is very similar to that of a Ferrari. They do not believe? So listen up… loudly, preferably!
American “Ferrari”?
What they just heard was the next Corvette Z06 “screaming” at up to 9000 rpm, a soundtrack capable of letting any petrolhead surrender.
One of the reasons that helps explain this exhaust note was the adoption of a flat crankshaft for its V8 engine – a more recurrent solution in competition than in production models, but which we can still find in Ferrari V8s today, even though they are turbocharged .
More than 600 hp and close to 9000 rpm
But this is just part of the “secret” of this Corvette Z06. Its atmospheric V8 block with 5.5 liters of capacity is derived from the same block used by the competition C8.Rs.
There are still no definitive numbers, but everything indicates that it will deliver more than 600 hp and will be able to “scale” up to 8500-9000 rpm. Like the Corvette we already know, here too the V8 is associated with a dual-clutch gearbox with eight ratios, mounted in a central rear position, and will continue to be rear-wheel drive.
By opting for this driving group we have a supercar that sounds more like a Ferrari than a Corvette. The closest we can compare this sound is with that of the Ferrari 458, the last of Maranello's atmospheric V8s.

Given the external changes, this version is expected to come equipped with larger brake discs, high-performance tires, a more aggressive aerodynamic package and wider tracks, for an image that matches the dynamic and performance potential of this version. proposal.
