Ford unveiled Evos in China. Is this the crossover successor to Mondeo?

Anonim

Ford chose this year's edition of the Shanghai Motor Show, in China, to present its latest creation to the world, the Ford Evos.

Developed by the Changan Ford joint venture, under the blue oval brand's China 2.0 plan, the Evos is something of a crossover coupe — it has some commonalities with the new Citroën C5 X, don't you think? —which has a rear section that also reminds us of van-type bodies.

The front, with a huge grille finished in black and with a torn luminous signature, is inspired by the visual language of the Equator, a new large SUV that Ford also recently introduced in China, which clearly shows the importance of this market. for the North American manufacturer.

Very little is known about this model, which so far is only confirmed in the Chinese market. However, the possibility that this model will also be marketed in Europe and North America, replacing the Ford Mondeo and Ford Fusion, respectively, is not ruled out.

To be confirmed are also the engines that will “animate” this Evos, although exclusively electrified mechanics are expected.

Bet on technology

Ford revealed only an image of the Evos' cabin, but it came to capture all our attention, as this crossover presents itself with a horizontal panel with more than one meter wide (1.1m).

This panel is divided between a digital instrument panel with 12.3” and a huge central screen — with 4K resolution — with 27″, capable of “running” the latest evolution of Ford's SYNC+ 2.0 system, which here has technology of Baidu's artificial intelligence.

As with the new Mustang Mach-E and F-150, this Evos also manages to receive remote OTA (over-the-air) updates.

When arrives?

Ford has not yet confirmed when it will start selling the new Evos in the Chinese market, but it is known that the debut will take place later this year.

It remains to be seen whether this new model of the blue oval brand will remain “confined” to Chinese territory or whether it will also integrate, in the future, Ford's European and North American ranges.
