Leakage of information confirms what we already knew. A new Toyota GT86 is coming

Anonim

As we announced a few months ago, there will even be a second generation Toyota GT86 which, it seems, could be called the GR86, in line with the nomenclature of the other models under the Gazoo Racing imprint

Once again, developed in conjunction with Subaru — which will also see the “brother” BRZ receive a new generation —, the new generation GT86 should see the light of day as early as 2021 , at least given an information leak that emerged on Instagram.

In an Allcarnews account publication, we can see a slide of a Toyota presentation in which the brand's future launches for the United States of America appear.

There, in a timeline full of models and where there was even a new crossover that will be unveiled this fall (is it the B-SUV we should have seen in Geneva?) and a new CUV, came confirmation of the launch of a new GT86 in the summer of 2021 — will it coincide with the launch in Europe, and more specifically, in Portugal?

What is already known about the new Toyota GT86?

According to the publication on the Instagram page Allcarnews, the new Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ will have to use a new platform, but the main novelty will be the one found under the bonnet.

It's still a rumor, with the same publication indicating that the new generation of Toyota and Subaru sports cars will "surrender" to the benefits of turbo engines, which will mean that the Toyota GT86 will have a (desired) power boost, going up from the current 200 hp to a value of around 255 hp, but always sent to the rear wheels — it seems to us that it is “too much on top” of the new four-cylinder Supra…

Certainties are also lacking about which engine this will be — everything points to continuing to be one of Subaru's boxers — as well as about the platform — will it be an evolution of the current one or a totally new one?
