New Kia Niro (2022). More daring, but still hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric

Anonim

Launched in 2016, the Kia Niro it was the first model from the South Korean brand to invest heavily in a range of engines fully electrified on three different levels: hybrid, plug-in hybrid and 100% electric.

The second generation of the model, already "caught" on the street in tests and which should reach us in 2022 (with a revelation to happen later this year, it seems), will maintain the same strategy, as well as continue to assume the format crossover.

However, nothing is yet known specifically and officially about each of its cinematic chains.

more expressive

What promises to change substantially is its design, which will be more expressive, inspired by the 2019 HabaNiro concept. Of course, it shouldn't come with the concept's “butterfly-wing” opening doors, but it's to be expected that many of its “graphics” (such as the face) are echoed in the production model.

In addition to a distinct face, without the “tiger nose” (tiger nose) that has marked the Kia for the past 10-15 years (we first saw it in 2007 in the Kee concept), the test prototypes despite the camouflage, they also show a more inclined C-pillar, which gives it a more dynamic posture.

The exterior design is finished off by what appears to be a rear flap (under the rear window), similar to the solution we found on the EV6 electric car.

In these spy photos it was also possible to see the interior of the future Kia Niro, which promises to be quite different from the current one. As has been the norm in the industry, it is dominated by the presence of two screens and we can even see tactile surfaces.

Even so, it is possible to see physical buttons on the center console, highlighting the command for the transmission, which maintains the circular shape and a generous dimension, as happens in the current Niro.
