Everything that's changed in the revamped Kia Ceed and Kia Proceed

Three years after launching the third generation Ceed, Kia has just updated the three bodies of its compact: the family van (SW), the hatchback and the so-called shooting brake ProCeed.

The renewed Ceed range will be available in our country from the autumn and will present itself with many new features, both in the aesthetic chapter and in the technological “department”.

The changes begin right away on the outside, with the new Ceed boasting Full LED headlamps with new “arrowhead” daytime running lights, a new bumper with more generous and expressive air intakes, glossy and clear black finishes, the new Kia logo, introduced earlier this year.

In the case of the plug-in hybrid versions, the “tiger nose” front grille is covered and finished in black. The GT versions continue to be noted for the red accents on the bumpers and side skirts.

In profile, the newly designed wheels stand out, to which four new bodywork colors are added.

But the biggest changes happened at the rear, especially in the GT and GT Line versions of the Ceed hatchback, which now feature LED tail lights — with sequential function for the “turn signals” — which give it a very distinct image.

Moving into the cabin, what immediately catches our attention is the new 12.3” digital instrument panel, which is teamed with a 10.25” multimedia center screen (tactile). Android Auto and Apple CarPlay systems are now available wirelessly.

Despite this “digitalization”, the climate control continues to be operated exclusively through physical commands.

The range also received innovations in terms of driving aids, namely a new blind spot alert system and a lane-staying assistant, to which a rear view camera and a rear movement detector with automatic braking system are added.

As for engines, the Ceed range maintains most of the engines we already know, although these are now complemented by a semi-hybrid system (mild-hybrid).

Among them we have gasoline the 120 hp 1.0 T-GDI and the 204 hp 1.6 T-GDI of the GT version. In diesel, the well-known 1.6 CRDi with 136 hp will continue to be part of the range, as will the latest plug-in hybrid, with the 1.6 GDI with 141 hp. The latter has a battery of 8.9 kWh, which “offers” an autonomy of 57 km in exclusively electric mode.

The novelty will be in the adoption of the new 160 hp 1.5 T-GDI, gasoline, debuted by “cousin” Hyundai i30 during its renovation.
