What do the new Corvette Z06 "caught up" at the Nürburgring hide?

The test prototypes of the future Chevrolet Corvette Z06 were “caught” “running” on the Nürburgring and stand out for presenting distinct aerodynamic configurations.

The North American brand's development team is at the Nürburgring with four different prototypes of the model and we had access to spy photos — in a national exclusive — of three of them (the fourth prototype is, it seems, the future hybrid Corvette) .

One has a very pronounced rear spoiler, similar to what we found on the old Corvette Z06. The other two are presented with an imposing rear wing that, in addition to the aerodynamic impact, also gives this “Vette” an even more aggressive image.

Common to all prototypes is the front bumper with large air intakes and a very pronounced splitter, the profile line where the wheels with a specific design stand out and the rear, with a new exhaust configuration with four exhausts. in the middle.

As always, the Corvette Z06 version will be more focused on circuit use, so in addition to a more efficient aerodynamic package it will also provide us with more power.

A V8 that “sounds” like a Ferrari

Equipped with an atmospheric V8 block with 5.5 liters of capacity that derives from the engine used by competition C8.Rs, the new Corvette Z06 has already let itself be heard and sounds like a… Ferrari. Yes, that's right, and you can listen to the video below:

The “blame” is the adoption of a flat crankshaft for its V8 engine – a more recurrent solution in competition than in production models, but one that we can still find today in Ferrari V8s, even though they are turbocharged.

There are still no definitive numbers, but everything indicates that it will deliver more than 600 hp and will be able to “scale” up to 8500-9000 rpm. Like the Corvette C8 that we already know, here too the V8 is associated with a dual-clutch gearbox with eight ratios, mounted in a central rear position, and will continue to be rear-wheel drive.
