Toyota will present on April 19, at the Shanghai Motor Show, China, the first 100% electric BZ model, acronym for Beyond Zero (beyond zero), a sub-brand of the Japanese manufacturer dedicated exclusively to electric vehicles.

But while the official debut does not take place, the brand from the country of the rising sun has just shown the first image of the model, still in the form of a “teaser” that only allows us to anticipate the shape of the front.

According to L’Argus, this first model of the BZ sub-brand will be called the BZ4X and will have the approximate size of a Toyota RAV4.

Toyota e-TNGA platform

This will be the first model of an electric offensive that will translate into a total of six new electric models, so it is not surprising that Toyota has already registered the names BZ1, BZ2, BZ2X, BZ3, BZ4, BZ4X and BZ5 ( the X serves to identify versions with all-wheel drive).

At the base of this SUV powered exclusively by electrons will be the new e-TNGA platform, developed in socks with Subaru, which is also preparing its first model derived from this one, which everything indicates that it will be called Evoltis.

In addition to being new, this platform is quite versatile, opening up possibilities for electric models with front, rear or all-wheel drive, as well as a wide range of electric motor configurations and battery capacities.

The French publication said that the power of this model should range between 110 hp and 220 hp, with a more powerful version, with 300 hp, more focused on the experience behind the wheel.

As mentioned above, the presentation to the world is scheduled for April 19, so that only then will we get to know all the secrets of the new 100% electric Toyota, which should only reach the market in the spring of 2022.
