Negative tests and reduced capacity. The key to having an audience in Formula 1 and MotoGP in Portugal?

Contrary to what many expected, there may even be an audience in the stands of the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in the MotoGP (between 16 and 18 April) and Formula 1 (between 30 April and 2 May) events.

The news is being put forward by the Público newspaper and reports that the venue will have a capacity limited to 10% in the MotoGP race, a figure that will be slightly higher in the Formula 1 race.

In addition, all tickets will be digital and, in addition to having a place marked on the stand, they must have the details of the buyer who will have to test Covid-19, the cost of which will be included in the ticket price.

It's not official yet

Although the Público newspaper put forward this possibility, after we have contacted the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, we have not received official confirmation that this will happen.

The idea behind a (very) reduced seating capacity is to ensure greater distance between spectators, thus avoiding the risk of transmission.

If you remember, it is only from April 19th that the decontamination plan foresees the holding of events abroad with reduced capacity, and only from May 3rd will it be possible to hold large outdoor and indoor events with decreased capacity.

Given the scale of events such as MotoGP and Formula 1 events, these are likely to be seen as major outdoor events. However, since both take place before the 3rd of May, the possibility of having an audience in the stands remains shrouded in many doubts.
