Bugatti has more than 100 years of tradition and history and does not hide that it is its “responsibility to preserve historical and contemporary classic models for the pleasure of future generations”. And the latest example of this is the original prototype of the Veyron Grand Sport , which has just undergone an intense restoration that lasted for four months.

This was the prototype that was at the base of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport, the targa version of the hypersport, whose production was limited to just 150 units. Introduced in Pebble Beach, California (USA) in 2008, it ended up in several hands around the world, but the brand based in Molsheim, in French Alsace, eventually got it back.

After that, the Veyron Grand Sport 2.1, as it is known internally, became the first car to pass the “La Maison Pur Sang” certification program, in which Bugatti determines whether the cars it analyzes are originals or replicas.

For this, it was completely dismantled so that all serial numbers could be verified. Once its authenticity was certified, another important mission followed: to give it back the immaculate image it displayed when it was presented in 2008.

It was repainted in its original color, received a new interior, a new center console and saw all the aluminum details restored. This was a painstaking process that took four months to complete, but the result caught the attention of many collectors.

After this official confirmation of the car's status as an important historic model and the prototype that helped launch the Veyron Grand Sport in 2008, the car quickly attracted the attention of many collectors and was acquired almost immediately.

Bugatti does not reveal the identity of the buyer or reveal the whereabouts of this Veyron Grand Sport, which continues to be able to reach a maximum speed of 407 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7s. But one thing is certain, it is one of the most special examples in Bugatti's recent history.
