First electric SUV that GM will build for Honda is called Prologue and arrives in 2024

After we learned about two months ago that General Motors is going to build two new all-electric SUVs for Honda, we now know that the first one will be called Prologue and that it will arrive in 2024.

Based on the Honda SUV e: concept — and which illustrates this article — presented at the Motor Show in Beijing (China) last year, the Honda Prologue will be the first model of a new generation of electric cars from the Japanese brand. This also explains the chosen name.

The goal is to “open the way” in the North American market and reach sales levels similar to those of Passport, a medium SUV that Honda produces — in Lincoln, Alabama — and sells in the United States of America.

Remember that Honda aims to have all of its sales in North America in 2040 be of all-electric cars.

Built on General Motors' BEV3 platform, the Prologue will also feature GM's latest generation Ultium batteries and should give rise to a model derived from Acura, Honda's North American arm.

Details surrounding this model are still scarce, but it is known that the Prologue could be built at General Motors' production facility in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico.

Still to be confirmed is the possibility of this electric SUV reaching the European market, where it is more likely that the Japanese brand will invest in the development of its own platform for smaller electric futures.
