Ecurie Ecosse LM69. A 'road-cool' prototype of Le Mans from the 60s

Anonim

Born in 1966 with the intention of competing at Le Mans, the Jaguar XJ13 he saw a change in regulations to prevent him from doing what he was born to do: running. Now, 53 years after the emergence of the XJ13, the reborn British team/company Ecurie Ecosse has decided to take inspiration from it and create the LM69.

According to Autocar, Ecurie Ecosse claims the LM69 was built as if the team had retrieved the XJ13 prototype to line up at the 1969 Le Mans 24 Hours match. built one example, a total of 25 units of the LM69 will be produced.

As with the Jaguar example, the Ecurie Ecosse LM69 also uses a V12 engine mounted in a central position. For now there are no data on power, however, taking into account that the XJ13 offered about 509 hp, the most likely is that the LM69, at least, equal this value.

It looks like a classic but it's not, the LM69 was born in 2019 and it's road-cool.

Inspired by the XJ13 but not the same

Although the (strong) inspiration of the Jaguar XJ13 is evident, the LM69 is not a copy of the unique example that in 1971 was involved in an accident that forced its total reconstruction. For starters, unlike the XJ13, which was convertible, the Ecurie Ecosse model received a fixed roof.

In addition, the LM69 also features a prominent rear wing and small front winglets for superior aerodynamics. Still, the overall shapes remain quite true to those of the Jaguar prototype. More interestingly, Ecurie Ecosse engineers didn't add any post-1969 technology or design features.

The Jaguar XJ13 inspired the LM69 and the similarities are evident.

Compared to the original model, the LM69 also received wider tyres, engine modifications and several panels produced using composite materials. Scheduled for a concert at London's Concours of Elegance in September, it's still unclear how much the Ecurie Ecosse LM69 will cost.
