The new Audi A3 Sportback TFSIe it is already available in plug-in hybrid versions 40 TFSIe and 45 TFSIe, in both cases we find an internal combustion engine under the hood plus an electric motor powered by a battery that allows it to be charged externally.
At the base of the new Audi A3 Sportback plug-in hybrids is the well-known 150 hp 1.4 turbo gasoline engine combined with a 109 hp electric propulsion, a combination that results in a combined maximum power of 204 hp in the case of the 40 TFSIe and 40 version. of 245 hp in the 45 TFSIe variant.
The mechanics used by both are exactly the same (the power difference is explained exclusively with the control software), but if the A3 Sportback 40 TFSIe announces 7.6s at 0 at 100 km/h and 227 km/h, the A3 Sportback 45 TFSIe takes just 6.8s to reach 100 km/h and reaches 232 km/h top speed.
Both versions feature a lithium-ion battery with 13 kWh capacity that can be recharged with a maximum power of up to 2.9 kW, taking approximately five hours to charge from a household outlet.
As for autonomy in 100% electric mode, it is possible to travel up to 67 km (WLTP cycle) with the 40 TFSIe and 63 km with the 45 TFSIe. It is possible to give priority to the electric drive and three other modes are available: “Auto Hybrid”, “Battery Hold” (which keeps the battery at a certain level) and “Battery Charge” (which allows charging the battery through the combustion engine) .
45 TFSIe S line: sportier look
Available as standard with two-zone automatic air conditioning, an interface with compatibility for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, LED headlights and an induction mobile phone charging system, the A3 Sportback 45 TFSIe S line presents itself — ex-factory — still with some elements that help to accentuate its sportier character, such as the S line exterior design, brake shoes in red, tinted rear windows, 17″ wheels and inserts in black. In the passenger compartment, the sporty front seats stand out.As an option, both versions can equip Matrix LED headlamps with dynamic curved lights that generate the shape of an “E”, the symbol of the plug-in hybrid models of the Ingolstadt brand.
