The first images of the new and only hybrid Honda HR-V

Anonim

Here are the first images of the new Honda HR-V , which will replace the current model (launched in 2015) towards the end of 2021, when it will begin marketing.

It is clearly different from the current generation still on sale, with more horizontal, fluid and refined lines, even though the Japanese brand, says itself, was inspired by more dynamic coupés to define the general contours of its crossover.

At the front, the new body-color grille that integrates the brand's logo stands out, with the former thick chrome bar disappearing from view. The only chrome element appears to be a frieze above the grille and “joining” the two front optics. The side is marked by a sharp waistline that extends the entire length, while at the back we now have horizontal optics joined by a light bar.

Inside it also stands out from its predecessor, reflecting the exterior in the use of horizontal lines and a more elegant and refined appearance, in line with what we have also seen in Jazz. Note that the climate control continues to be controlled by various buttons and, moreover, rotary, a point in favor of ease of use.

Space on board will continue to be one of the HR-V's biggest arguments, as will flexibility, keeping the ever-useful “magic seats” in the back where we can fold the seat towards the back.

Exclusively hybrid

At the moment not much more information has been given about the new Honda HR-V, but one thing the Japanese brand has already confirmed: it will be only and only hybrid. A decision that meets Honda's goal of electrifying its entire range by next year (except the Civic Type R)

The new Honda HR-V will incorporate the same hybrid technology, identified as e:HEV, debuted on the larger CR-V and is also already used by the Jazz/Crosstar. This is made up, synthetically, of two electric motors — one connected to the drive shaft, the other just acting as a motor-generator —, a combustion engine and a small battery (lithium ions).

The displacement is practically always carried out only with the electric motor, with the combustion engine serving as a generator or “battery” for it. In fact, the combustion engine is practically never connected to the wheels, with the exception made when driving at high speed (highway).

It remains, however, to know the final specifications. It is not known whether it will resort to the same driving group as the Jazz/Crosstar, with 109 hp and 253 Nm, or if it will resort to a more powerful one.

We should know more information in the coming months before starting to market at the end of 2021.
