Hyundai N. More models on the way, including electric

In the wake of the unveiling of the new Kauai N and the “Hyundai N Day,” Hyundai unveiled ambitious plans for the N and N Line model families.

Launched in 2013, the N division received a new slogan “Never just drive” and is getting ready to see its offer grow and… electrify itself.

In total, Hyundai N plans the N and N Line model range to include 18 multi-segment models in 2022.

The Ioniq 5 platform will serve as the basis for the first electric model in the N division.

Electrify is the order

As expected, the “electrification wave” will also reach the N division. Although details are limited, Hyundai has already confirmed that this model will be based on the E-GMP platform (the same as the Ioniq 5).

Whether or not it will be an Ioniq 5 N we do not know. However, it most likely has more than the 306 hp and 605 Nm offered by the more powerful version of the South Korean crossover. In this field, we were not surprised that it presented numbers close to those of its “cousin”, the Kia EV6 GT, which produces 585 hp and 740 Nm.

What's next for Division N? Sustainable driving fun. Ever since we introduced the hydrogen-powered N Vision 2025 prototype, sustainable fun has been N's way of bringing Hyundai's vision of "Progress for Humanity" to life. Now it's time to make that vision a reality.

In addition, Hyundai N said that another of the electrification possibilities involves the creation of a hydrogen model. According to the South Korean brand, the RM platform will continue to serve to test electrified mechanics, including hydrogen fuel cells.

As for this possible hydrogen sports model, Hyundai already imagined it in 2015 when it unveiled the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo prototype.
