This increase in the wheelbase has resulted in an increase in available legroom in the rear seats, which went from 903 mm to 941 mm.

Golf Variant Engines

In total, Volkswagen Golf Variant sees its engine range to be composed of four petrol engines, one CNG, three mild-hybrid and three Diesel.

The gasoline offer starts with the 1.0 TSI three-cylinder in the 90 and 110 hp variants and continues with the 1.5 TSI of 130 or 150 hp. All of them coupled to a manual gearbox with six relations, the 1.5 TSI also has the Active Cylinder Management (ACT) system.

If you want to associate the 1.0 TSI with 110 hp and the 1.5 TSI with the DSG box with seven ratios, they will be associated with a mild-hybrid system with 48V. As for the GNC version, we only know that it will have 130 hp (the engine should be the same 1.5 l as the Audi A3 Sportback 30 g-tron).

The Diesel offer consists of the 2.0 TDI in three power levels: 115 hp, 150 hp or 200 hp. In the first two cases, the transmission is in charge of a manual gearbox or a DSG gearbox, while the more powerful variant is exclusive to the Alltrack version and only appears coupled to a DSG gearbox with seven ratios.

The Golf Variant Alltrack will have the most powerful diesel engine.

Five versions, but one will not be available in Portugal

In total, the new Golf Variant will have five versions, with three of them bearing a different designation from the one used in the previous generation.

Thus, the Trendline, Comfortline and Highline variants will give way to the Golf, Life and Style lines versions, to which the sportier R-Line version and the adventurous Golf Alltrack will be added.

As we have already told you, similarly to what happened in the previous generation, the Alltrack version will not be marketed in Portugal.

How much will it cost?

According to Volkswagen, in the launch phase, the Golf Variant will be available with three engines: the 110 hp 1.0 eTSI and the 115 and 150 hp 2.0 TDI.

If you remember, the last time we talked about the Golf range van, we said that the first engine to arrive in Portugal will be the 115 hp 2.0 TDI.

Volkswagen Golf Variant

Although there are still no official prices, the German brand is trying to position it in the same price range as the previous 1.6 TDI. If this is confirmed, it means that it should cost around 32 000 euros.

As for the remaining prices, in the previous generation, the Volkswagen Golf Variant cost around 1600 euros more than the hatchback, and this differential should not undergo major changes.
