Bayon. Hyundai's smallest SUV lets you see a little more

Scheduled to arrive in the first half of the year and destined to position itself below Kauai, the new Hyundai Bayon it allowed itself to be anticipated in three new teasers.

According to the South Korean brand, its new SUV/Crossover will incorporate the “Sensuous Sportiness” design philosophy that “combines emotional value with innovative design solutions”, of which we have already seen the first manifestations in models such as the new i20 and Tucson.

Leaving behind the designations given by the brand, what we can see from the images released is a front that integrates a large air intake, LED daytime running lights and a style that reminds us of the one adopted by Kauai after the restyling.

At the rear, the optics assume a vertical format with arrow-shaped graphics, being joined by a red line, a solution already adopted in the also new Tucson. All of this contributes to making Bayon look wider than it really is.

What to expect from Bayon?

Most likely based on the platform of the new Hyundai i20, Bayon will share the engines with it.

If confirmed, the Hyundai Bayon will have the services of a 1.2 MPi with 84 hp and a five-speed manual gearbox and the 1.0 T-GDi with 100 hp or 120 hp that is associated with a mild-hybrid 48 V system (from series in the more powerful version, optionally in the less powerful version) and which is coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission or a six-speed intelligent manual (iMT) transmission.

The front adopts some solutions already used on the revamped Kauai.

Much less likely is the existence of a 100% electric version of the Bayon — it is also not planned, at the moment, for the new i20 — with this space to be filled, in part, by Kauai Electric, and which will be complemented with the new IONIQ 5 (coming in already this year).
