As a rule, when we talk about a V8 with 421 hp We assume two things: the first is that it is a gasoline engine, the second is that it is located under the bonnet of any sports car.
Here it is neither one nor the other: the Volkswagen Touareg is a generously sized SUV and its V8 “drinks” this demonized fuel called diesel.
Presented at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the 4.0 l V8 TDI that equips this Touareg is the same used by the Audi SQ7 TDI. However, in Volkswagen the power is “only” by 421 hp, not reaching the 435 hp offered by Audi. The value of the binary is the same, remaining in some impressive 900 Nm.
The V8 TDI joins the V6 engines (Diesel and petrol) already offered in the Touareg range, and makes the SUV the most powerful Volkswagen today, surpassing the number of horses in an up! GTI, the 300 hp presented by the sportier T-Roc R or Golf R.

Thanks to the adoption of the V8 TDI, the Touareg was able to accelerate from the 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9s . The maximum speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited).

Volkswagen announced two distinct style packs, the Elegance and the Atmosphere, however, in Geneva we got to know the V8 TDI with the sportiest R-LINE clothing. As for the other two style packs, the first bets on cheerful colors and metal details and the second presents a more classic look with wooden details.
Still in terms of equipment, all Touareg V8 TDI will feature equipment such as air suspension, electrically closed luggage compartment, 19” wheels, among others. For now, the prices of the new Touareg V8 TDI in the national market are not known, nor when it will arrive in Portugal.
