The Ford Mustang Mach-E will feature over-the-air upgrades

Scheduled for arrival on the Portuguese market by the end of the year, the electric Ford Mustang Mach-E , will have over-the-air updates, that is, you will be able to receive remote software updates, without the need for the owner to travel to the service center — a feature not strange to owners of Tesla models.

These updates are not just limited to the SYNC infotainment system. It's just that virtually all Mustang Mach-E systems can be upgraded this way.

This means that Ford will be able to offer performance improvements or even completely new features that weren't available when the Mustang Mach-E was launched or purchased.

For example, let's imagine that Ford created an optimized battery management map, which could even allow you to gain a few kilometers of autonomy per charge. Rather than waiting for a service to be scheduled, we may receive this update remotely while the vehicle is stationary for the night.

The beauty of the Mustang Mach-E is that the first-day customer experience is just the beginning—the experience will evolve and add new features and capabilities over time.

How it works?

According to Ford, the first over-the-air updates of the Ford Mustang Mach-E should take place within the first six months after the delivery of the first copies. Whenever there are software updates available the owners will receive notification.

Some of the Mustang Mach-E upgrades will be virtually invisible to the owner. The latter, however, will be able to select the best time for the update to take place, coinciding, for example, with the night period, when the vehicle is immobilized.

Our over-the-air updates also cut system downtime through incredibly fast wake-up, ensuring that your Mustang Mach-E will get even better, even while you sleep.

According to Ford, many of the updates complete almost instantly after the vehicle is started or in about two minutes. Others require the vehicle to be parked longer and can be scheduled when it is most convenient.
