At SEMA360 there will be a "targa" version of the Toyota GR Supra

After appearing at SEMA last year with the GR Supra Heritage Edition, inspired by the fourth generation Supra (A80), this year Toyota has taken inspiration from the targa versions of its famous sports car. Thus, for the atypical and exclusively online edition of the event — pandemic oblige — SEMA360 (November 2nd and 6th), we will see the unveiling of the Toyota GR Supra Sport Top.

Released in a teaser in the form of a video, this roofless GR Supra marks the return of the Japanese sports car to “walking with your hair in the wind” versions. The roof consists of two pieces made of composite material and can be stored inside the luggage compartment.

In addition to the loss of the roof, the GR Supra Sport Top will also feature a new large rear wing and a reinforced structure to ensure that the loss of the roof does not translate into a loss of structural rigidity.

Among the changes that the GR Supra Sport Top underwent, the new front splitter and larger rear diffuser should also be highlighted. It's just a show car, with no goals to reach the production line, but could it be Toyota “testing the waters”?

The remaining GR Supra in SEMA360

In addition to preparing to reveal the GR Supra Sport Top at SEMA360, Toyota revealed three more special examples of its sports car at the famous event.

Starting with the Ornamental Conifer GR Supra, it started its life as a GR Supra 3.0 Premium, having been transformed by British artist Nicolai Sclater, who wanted to pay tribute to the old traffic signs and graphics used by cars of yore, having painted the GR Supra by hand !

As for the GReddy Performance Formula D GR Supra, it was created by Ken Gushi Motorsports and GReddy Performance, and was designed for drift. Equipped with a 3.0 l six-cylinder with a new turbo, this GR Supra also received a new exhaust system and saw the radiator relocated to improve cooling and mass balance.

In addition, the GReddy Performance Formula D GR Supra features a six-ratio sequential gearbox, a Pandem Rocket Bunny beauty kit and Rays rims.

Finally, SEMA360 was also the stage chosen for the unveiling of the Papadakis Racing Rockstar Energy Drink Toyota GR Supra, another example designed for the world of drift.

With an improved version of the GR Supra's six-cylinder in-line, it also features a new turbo, AEM fuel pumps and larger exhaust valves. Added to this are forged steel connecting rods, new pistons, new injectors and even a Mountune air intake produced using 3D printing technology.

All these "stirrings" made the power reach the 1047 hp and torque at 1231 Nm.
