After a few months we've seen the first plug-in hybrid variant of the new generation Audi A3, the A3 Sportback 40 TFSI, and now it's time to discover the second “plug-in” variant of the German compact, this one called the A3 Sportback 45 TFSI e.
Equipped with the same 1.4 la petrol of 150 hp and 250 Nm that is associated with an electric motor with 109 hp (80 kW) and 330 Nm, the Audi A3 Sportback 45 TFSI and has a maximum combined power of 245 hp and torque 400 Nm, a value higher than the 204 hp (150 kW) and 350 Nm displayed by the A3 Sportback 40 TFSI e.
This gain in power and torque (another 41 hp and 50 Nm) is achieved, according to Audi, thanks to the control software. All of this allows this Audi A3 plug-in hybrid to reach 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.8s and reach a top speed of 232 km/h (the A3 Sportback 40 TFSI and announces 7.6s in 0 to 100 km /h and 227 km/h).
Gain power, lose (little) autonomy
Like its less powerful brother, the A3 Sportback 45 TFSI, it has a 13 kWh lithium-ion battery. Speaking of which, it can be recharged with a maximum power of up to 2.9 kW, taking about five hours to charge from a household outlet.

As for autonomy in 100% electric mode (mode in which this A3 Sportback 45 TFSI always starts), using only the electric motor that is incorporated in the automatic dual-clutch S tronic, we can accelerate up to 140 km/h and travel up to 63 km (WLTP cycle) compared to the 67 km announced by the 40 TFSI e.
In total, there are four driving modes: 100% electric, “Auto Hybrid”, “Battery Hold” (which keeps the battery at a certain level) and “Battery Charge” (which allows you to charge the battery via the combustion engine).
Equipped with the “black styling package”, the A3 Sportback 45 TFSI and features black details and equipment such as the 17” wheels, larger brakes with red painted calipers, the Audi drive select system, the rear windows or bi-zone climate control. Matrix LED headlamps are optional.
The Audi A3 Sportback 45 TFSI has no expected arrival date or price for Portugal yet and sees its price start in Germany at 41,440 euros.
