Cold Start. This "demo" lawnmower is faster than your car

THE Honda Mean Mower is no stranger to Reason Automobile — a year ago we announced and developed a new generation of Mean Mower to regain the title of fastest lawnmower on the planet.

As you can imagine, this is definitely not your typical lawn mower. As a motivational force, the Mean Mower uses the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP engine — according to Honda, the engine delivers little more than 200 hp at 13 000 rpm!

To withstand such power, it relies on a unique space frame structure, but for the record to be certified, it must still be able to...mow grass. A task that it is perfectly capable of carrying out, thanks to two batteries, electric motors and blades… in carbon fiber.

The record to beat? Acceleration from 0 to 100 mph (160 km/h), with the final result being given by the average of two passes… and hey, how fast these were. A meager 6.285s were enough to reach 160 km/h and secure a world record certified by the Guinness World Records.

Developed by Team Dynamics and with pilot and duo Jess Hawkins at its controls, the team also did not miss the opportunity to find out the maximum speed of the Mean Mower. They weren't disappointed: they registered 150.99 mph (242.99 km/h)!
