It has been available for some time under the hood of Mégane in France and after arriving at Koleos, the 1.7 Blue dCi is now also available in Portugal in the Mégane, Scénic, Talisman and Kadjar ranges.

With 1749 cm3 of displacement and available in the variants of 120 hp and 300 Nm or 150 hp and 340 Nm , the 1.7 Blue dCi is an evolution of the old 1.6 dCi that it replaces, being the result of Renault's need to adapt its range of diesel engines to the much talked about WLTP.

To ensure a reduction in emissions, the 1.7 Blue dCi was equipped with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system that allows for a reduction in NOx emissions. Also in terms of technical innovations, the 1.7 Blue dCi has electric actuators for the variation of turbo geometry that allow faster response over a wide range of engine speeds.

Usually combined with a six-speed manual gearbox, in the case of the Mégane and the Scénic, the 1.7 Blue dCi can also be combined with a six-speed dual-clutch (EDC) gearbox.
