Aston Martin Vantage has a grid too big? There is already a solution for this

Anonim

The previous generation of Aston Martin Vantage it was considered (almost, almost) perfect in terms of its design. A coupé of (very good) classic proportions, elegant, and even so, still capable of expressing its latent potential in terms of dynamism and performance.

It would be difficult to replace such an acclaimed design. Aston Martin decided to take a much more expressive and daring path towards the successor, freeing itself from the classic values that determined the previous Vantage.

Inspired by the DB10, the sports car purposely designed for the least secret agent of all, James Bond, the new Vantage “screams” more than its intentions as a sports car.

And nothing reflects it more than in front of you. In it we find a huge front grill that aggressively dominates the entire front of the Vantage. It's still possible to recognize it as a typical Aston Martin grill, but there's no consensus — whether you love it or hate it.

We have to believe that there are more those who do not appreciate the front of the new Vantage than those who do, considering the theme that gave rise to this article.

Goodbye, "baby"

Revenant Automotive, a company focused on customizing Aston Martin models, created a new stylistic package for Vantage. But instead of accentuating the aggressiveness of the model, as is customary in these types of solutions, this company decided to attenuate it, and return to Vantage some of the lost elegance.

The stylistic package created, anticipated here by a set of 3D projections, focuses on the edges of the British coupé, replacing the front and rear bumpers, with others that promise to give the Vantage a more balanced, elegant and… consensual design.

Side by side. Which do you prefer?

As we can see in the images, this solution recovers more classic themes, with the huge front grille being divided in two by a thin horizontal band of the body color, now having an upper grille, which maintains the expected contours and which identifies the Vantage like an Aston Martin, and another inferior.

The rear was not untouched, with the diffuser losing its “wavy” design and the rear section being redefined, above all, by a series of horizontal lines that, according to Revenant Automotive, “divide the car vertically more uniform".

Interestingly, the exhaust outlets grow in diameter, getting better proportioned with the rest of the car, says Revenant Automotive.

Horizontal lines predominate at the rear

Note that they were careful not to alter the lines and surfaces that determine the aerodynamic elements of the production Aston Martin Vantage, namely the front splitter and the rear diffuser, “ensuring that style does not compromise performance”.

For a final verdict, it might be better to wait to see “live and in color” this stylistic package mounted on a Vantage. However, it's impossible not to notice how this restyling attenuates the Vantage's visual aggressiveness, bringing back even some of the lost elegance of its predecessor.

What do you think, the Aston Martin Vantage is winning or losing with this change?
