One of the many new additions to Audi at the Frankfurt Motor Show (there we saw, for example, the AI:TRAIL quattro, the renewed A5, the RS7 Sportback or the A7 Sportback 55 TFSI and quattro), the SQ8 confirmed a trend at Audi: the exchange of gasoline engines for… Diesel engines in the “S” versions of its models.
Like the SQ5, S5, S6 and S7 Sportback, the SQ8 also received a Diesel engine (and a mild-hybrid system), in which case the chosen engine was a 4.0 V8 twin-turbo.
able to debit 435 hp and 900 Nm , numbers that make it possible to reach 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8s and reach a maximum speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited) is associated with an eight-speed automatic transmission and the quattro all-wheel drive system.
mild-hybrid system to help
As for the 48 V mild-hybrid system, it allows the use of an electrically operated compressor powered by an electric motor (powered by the 48 V electrical system) and aims to reduce turbo lag.

Compared to “normal” Q8s, the SQ8 received a specific grille, new air intakes, a new rear diffuser and four exhaust outlets. Inside, the highlights are leather and Alcantara finishes, stainless steel pedals and, of course, two screens in the center console and the Audi Virtual Cockpit.
Scheduled for arrival on the domestic market this month, the price at which the SQ8 will be sold here is not known for now.
