Trainer Wimmer felt that the Volkswagen Polo R WRC lacked “something” so it decided to increase its power to 425 horsepower.

The pocket-rocket chosen by the German preparer was nothing more, nothing less than the exclusive Volkswagen Polo R WRC, a street legal version of the model that the German brand uses in the World Rally Championship.

The Volkswagen Polo R WRC, limited to 2500 units, is the pocket-rocket designed by VW for the purpose of homologating the rally car and also the most beloved by fans of the brand. Why? Because in addition to integrating a front-wheel drive system, it delivers more than 200hp of power generated by a 2.0 TFSI engine inherited from the Golf GTI, which makes it reach 100km/h in just 6.4 seconds, right before reaching 243km/h – for a Polo, not bad…

Preparer Wimmer was not in the least surprised – at least, it seems… – and decided to “double” the formula used by the Wolfsburg brand. Thanks to modifications at the level of the petrol pump, turbo, ECU and exhaust system, this pocket-rocket can deliver 425hp (instead of 217hp), 480Nm of torque (against the 349Nm of the standard version) and 280km/h of speed maximum. 17-inch OZ wheels, KW suspensions and stickers alluding to the preparer are some of the aesthetic modifications that we can find in this small rocket, which has more power than the Volkwagen Golf R420.
