Once the first images are known, Toyota has just revealed some more details of the new Yaris GRMN, the (very) spicy version of the small B-segment hatchback. The Geneva Motor Show promises…

After 17 years of absence, Toyota returned this season to the World Rally Championship, and soon with the aim of discussing the WRC constructors' title. According to the brand, it was this return that motivated the development of a performance-oriented model in the Yaris range, the Yaris GRMN.

GRMN refers to Gazoo Racing Masters of the Nürburgring.

In addition to the more sporty stylistic notes, as you can see in the images, it's under the hood that the magic happens: we're talking about a supercharged engine with 1.8 liters of capacity that should produce more than 210 hp. It is not yet known how all this power will be transmitted to the wheels, but the latest rumors point to a six-speed manual gearbox. For more news we will have to wait until the Geneva Motor Show.

But the Toyota Yaris GRMN will not be alone in the Swiss event. Next to it will be the full range of Toyota Gazoo competition cars, including the Yaris WRC, as well as the new Toyota prototype, which goes by the name of i-TRIL Concept (below).

This model was developed by the brand's European division in collaboration with the ED² design studio, in France, and was a kind of guinea pig for the development of autonomous driving technologies and a new, more efficient and involving electric motorization, according to Toyota.

“The i-TRIL Concept represents a viable alternative to the A and B segment models, other electric cars and motorcycles, for those who still want to have fun behind the wheel even at low speeds and on urban routes”.
