DS 3 Crossback "Caught". This is the new French premium compact SUV

The internet doesn't sleep and, months before its official presentation to the public — in October, at the Paris Salon —, we can already see what the new and unprecedented will be like. DS 3 Crossback , a new proposal for the French brand's premium compact SUV; rival potential of models like the Audi Q2 and Mini Countryman; and likely, the indirect successor to the DS 3 — it will remain on sale, in principle, until the end of the decade.

The patent registration images, released by the Worldscoop forum, reveal a design that is influenced by both the DS 3 and the DS 7 Crossback. Furthermore, we can distinguish two versions of the model — take a look at the treatment of the front grille, wheels and the number of exhausts at the rear.

Influence 3 and 7 Crossback

The front is dominated by a large grille, with the front optics joining this, just like on the DS 7 Crossback. Despite following the same model as the big brother, the front optics assume a specific cut, observed by the broken line on top of them. The daytime running lights also follow the “recipe” for the DS 7 Crossback, positioned vertically.

This version reveals a higher equipment level. Note the texture of the grid, for example

The side is where we see the biggest DS 3 influence, namely the inclusion of the “fin” on the B-pillar — the most distinctive visual element of the current DS 3 — despite the five-door bodywork. Also note the black A, B and C pillars, just like the DS 3. Also note the unusual triangular light-catcher — the depression in the underbody, which “captures” the light and helps to reduce perception of the height of the bodywork.

Two exhaust outlets for more powerful versions

At the rear, we return to the DS 7 Crossback influences, especially with regard to the rear optics, joined by a rear bar. But there are differences: the number plate is now on the bumper instead of the tailgate and a more sporty/aggressive touch stands out, with two round and large exhaust outlets, at least in one of the versions, .

distinct interior

The interior was also “caught”, and as it has been the hallmark of DS, great care is to be expected in its presentation. The diamond pattern in the middle of the dashboard, which integrates the ventilation outlets and various controls, immediately stands out; topped by the infotainment system's touchscreen — a different solution from the one we found in the 7 Crossback.

Interior promises to be, as in the DS 7 Crossback, the big highlight.

The center console, on the other hand, follows the same “recipe” as its older brother, with two rows of buttons on the sides of the gearbox knob. Also noteworthy is the instrument panel, which appears to be fully digital, just like on the larger Crossback.

It now remains to wait another couple of months (if that…) to get to know, “live and in color”, the new DS 3 Crossback.
