Blame it (again) with WLTP. Volkswagen delays new car deliveries

After having already been forced to review the engines of some of its models, such as the Golf R, Volkswagen is now also withhold delivery of more than 250,000 cars , due, once again, to the requirements of the new emissions cycle scheduled to take effect on September 1, the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure, or WLTP.

The situation, which the manufacturer itself has already recognized, should also lead to the delay of production deadlines for some models, due to the need to be certified again, this time according to the WLTP.

Volkswagen also revealed that it was forced to find and rent several extra parking lots and buildings, in order to park the vehicles that it cannot, for the time being, deliver. But that will eventually reach the hands of future owners, once the new approval tests are carried out.

Although parking needs vary depending on the models and factories where they are produced, the German brand already admits to renting the space at the future airport in Berlin, Berlin-Bradenburg, to place the vehicles there , revealed, in statements to the Reuters news agency, a spokeswoman for the manufacturer.

Also in June, Volkswagen announced the decision to close the main plant in Wolfsburg, one to two days a week, between the beginning of August and the end of September, and the same should happen with the units in Zwickau and Emden. The latter, for a few days, between the third and fourth quarter of 2018, is also the result of the weak demand for proposals such as the Passat.
