The multi-million dollar “Furious Speed” saga is no longer about illegal street racing and the “tuning underworld”, and the new trailer for “Furious Speed 9” just confirmed it.
Yes, cars continue to play an important role in the narrative, however they are no longer the "main actors", becoming a kind of gadget used by a group of ex-illegal racers who seem to have turned into spies.
Along the second trailer revealed, we can see that the “car cast” has models like the “eternal” Dodge Charger, the Toyota GR Supra and even a Pontiac Fiero that tries to play the role of a… space shuttle.

As for the “human cast”, this trailer confirms the presence of the usual actors — made up of names like Vin Diesel, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez or Sung Kang — but there are also new faces like John Cena (who plays his brother younger by Dominic Toretto, and movie villain Jakob). The film also features Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren, who brings the character Magdalene Shaw to life.
The premiere date should have been last year, May 22 , but with the pandemic crisis, the premiere of the film “Furious 9” was postponed until this year. The premiere is thus scheduled for June 25 in the US and July 8 in the UK, it is not yet known when it will reach Portuguese cinemas.
