Betting on having at the end of 2019 more than a dozen plug-in hybrid models in its offer and around 20 within the next year, Mercedes-Benz decided to electrify its two entry-level models, the Class A (both the hatchback version as the sedan version) and the B-Class.

Designated, respectively, At 250 and and B 250 and , the hybrid versions of Class A and B combine the 1.33 l four-cylinder engine with a 75 kW electric motor (which also serves as a starter for the combustion engine) offering a combined power of 218 hp (160 kW) and a maximum combined torque of 450 Nm.

Powering the electric motor is a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 15.6 kWh. As for charging, in a 7.4 kW Wallbox with alternating current (AC) the battery takes 1h45min to go from 10% to 100%. With direct current (DC), the battery can be recharged from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes.

In terms of performance, in the Limousine version, the plug-in hybrid Class A reaches a maximum speed of 240 km/h and fulfills 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7s.

Mercedes A-Class Hybrid

Finally, the B 250 and it has consumption between 1.4 and 1.6 l/100 km, emissions between 32 and 36 g/km and an autonomy in electric mode between 56 and 67 km . In terms of performance, 0 to 100 km/h are completed in 6.8s and the maximum speed is 235 km/h. Common to all three models is a top speed of 140 km/h in 100% electric mode.

Mercedes A-Class Hybrid

Both the A-Class and the B-Class plug-in hybrid are expected to reach the market this year. Although they still don't have a date of arrival in our market, Razão Automóvel will have the opportunity to put the plug-in hybrid version of the Class A to the test in September, on the occasion of the Frankfurt Motor Show.
