Lexus UX revealed: this is the future of the Japanese brand

Although unofficial, the images now revealed show how the brand's design philosophy will be incorporated into the new Lexus UX.

A few weeks before the Paris Motor Show, several models that will be on display in the French capital begin to be unveiled at the end of this month. This time, we got to know the new Lexus compact SUV, in a concept version very close to the model that should be unveiled in Paris.

Designed by the European design division of the ED2 brand, the Lexus UX sports a muscular silhouette with coupé shapes. But while a youthful and sporty appearance was already expected, the surprises ended up being reserved for the LED luminous signature on the rear and for the architecture of the side doors, with just one handle on each side. Are we going to have suicidal doors?

Another new feature is the rearview mirrors (or lack thereof…). Technology promises to be one of the strengths of this new model, and as such, Toyota has chosen to use two cameras that transmit images directly to a screen in the center console.

As for the powertrains, little is known, but we remember that earlier this year Lexus registered patents in Europe for three different units: UX 200 (atmospheric 2.0 liter engine), UX 250 (atmospheric 2.5 liter) and the UX hybrid 250h (2.4 liter gasoline block with an electric motor). Despite the two exhaust outlets that can be seen in the image, the possibility of integrating a 100% electric engine was not discarded.

To clear up any doubts, we'll have to wait until the next Paris Motor Show, when the Lexus UX should be presented to the public still in a concept version.
