Cold Start. Duel of "brothers". New Audi S3 takes on old RS 3

Anonim

Until the arrival of the new Audi RS 3, the role of the sportier version of the A3 range rests with the Audi S3 (Sportback and Sedan), equipped with a 2.0 l petrol turbo capable of delivering 310 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

These numbers allow the new Audi S3 to complete the usual exercise from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8s and reach a maximum speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited, of course).

These are interesting numbers, but are they really enough to make the old Audi RS 3 “stomping foot” — two generations ago — equipped with the “eternal” five-cylinder 2.5-liter gasoline engine with 340 hp and 450 Nm of power maximum torque?

Drag race - Audi S3 Vs Audi RS3 1-2

On paper, the advantage lies with the RS 3, which dispatches the first 100 km/h in just 4.6s and reaches the same 250 km/h top speed. But there are several things in common that can help level this “fight”. Both models are equipped with the four-wheel drive system — quattro — from the four-ring brand and both weigh exactly the same: 1575 kg.

There was only one way to dispel this doubt: on the “track”, with another drag race, made here by Carwow and the result is surprising… or not! Find out the answer in the video below:
