Less Volvo, more Polestar. Precept anticipates the future of the brand

After having seen Polestar 2 in Geneva a year ago, this year at the Swiss event we will get to know the Polestar Precept , a prototype with which the Swedish brand anticipates its future on the most diverse levels.

With a minimalist and aerodynamic look, Polestar Precept presents itself as a “four-door coupé”, contrary to the trend of “SUVization” in the market. The 3.1 m wheelbase allows the future rival of the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S to house a battery pack that is large, but whose capacity is unknown.

Unlike what happens with Polestar 1 and 2, whose look does not hide the direct derivation of Volvo models, Precept is a clear step to visually separate the two Scandinavian brands, anticipating what we can expect from future Polestar models.

The style of Polestar Precept

Highlight, above all, to the front, where the grille disappeared and gave way to a transparent area called “Smartzone”, where the sensors and cameras for the driving assistance systems are located. The headlamps, on the other hand, reinterpret the well-known luminous signature “Thor's hammer”.

At the rear, the horizontal LED strip that we also saw in Polestar 2 is taken up here, still in an even more minimalist evolution.

The front grille disappeared, with Precept adopting a solution already used in other electric models.

Also on the outside of the Polestar Precept are the disappearance of the rear-view mirrors (replaced by cameras), the placement of LIDAR on the roof (which improves its action capacity) and the panoramic roof that extends to the rear, fulfilling the functions of back window.

The interior of Polestar Precept

Inside, the minimalist style is maintained, with the dashboard housing two screens, one with 12.5" that fulfills the functions of an instrument panel and the other with 15" in a high and central position, featuring the new system based infotainment product developed in collaboration with Google.

As with the exterior, there are also a number of sensors inside. Some monitor the driver's gaze, adjusting the content present on the screens, while others, proximity, seek to improve the usability of the central screen.

Sustainable materials are the future

In addition to anticipating Polestar's new design language and various technologies that will be available on the Scandinavian brand's models, Precept makes known a series of sustainable materials from which Polestar's models will be able to use in the future.

For example, the benches are developed using 3D knitting technology and based on recycled plastic bottles (PET), the carpets are made from recycled fishing nets and the arm and headrests are made of recycled cork. .

In addition to having a minimalist look, the interior of Polestar Precept uses recycled materials.

The use of these sustainable materials allowed, according to Polestar, to reduce Precept's weight by 50% and plastic waste by 80%.
