Despite being released in 2019, the Polestar 1 , the first model of the Scandinavian brand, is getting ready to “abandon the stage” at the end of 2021.

Obviously, Polestar couldn't let this occasion go unnoticed and that's why it created an exclusive and limited series to celebrate the end of production of its first model.

Unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show, this special Polestar 1 series will be limited to just 25 copies, notable for its matte gold paintwork that extends to the brake calipers, black wheels and the golden accents on the interior.

As for the price of these 25 units, Polestar did not provide any value. If you remember, when “1” was launched, Polestar's goal was to produce 500 units/year.

Equipped with one of the most complex plug-in hybrid systems on the market, the Polestar 1 “houses” a four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with two electric motors mounted on the rear axle with 85 kW (116 hp) and 240 Nm each.

In total, there are 619 hp of maximum combined power and 1000 Nm. Powering the electric motors is a 34 kWh battery — much larger than the average — that allows a range in 100% electric mode of 124 km (WLTP).

Polestar 1 Gold Edition

About the end of Polestar 1, the brand's CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, said: "It's hard to believe that our halo-car will reach the end of its production life this year."

Still on the Polestar 1, Ingenlath stated: “We've overcome barriers with this car, not just in terms of engineering, but also in terms of its design and execution. Polestar 1 has set the standard for our brand and its genes are evident in Polestar 2 and will be in our future cars.”
