CUPRA Formentor VZ5. The most powerful of the Formentors will have 5 cylinders

Anonim

It won't be necessary to wait long for the revelation of the CUPRA Formentor VZ5 . It will be on February 22nd — coinciding with the 3rd anniversary of the Spanish brand — that we will see the most powerful and fastest Formentor of all.

To be so, the Formentor VZ5 will have a strong argument: an unprecedented (in the brand) five-cylinder engine! And as these don't go around “kicking around”, everything points to it being the same 2.5 TFSI from Audi, which we find today in the TT RS, RS Q3 and which will soon return to a new generation of the RS 3.

On the RS of the four-ring brand, the turbocharged pentacylindrical delivers 400 hp and 480 Nm — are these the numbers we'll see on the Formentor VZ5?

If so, it will be an expressive leap in relation to the CUPRA Formentor VZ 2.0 TSI, nowadays the most powerful of the Formentors, with 310 hp and 400 Nm. Enough to launch it up to 100 km/h in already very fast 4, 9s, thanks to four-wheel drive and DSG (seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox).

The published teaser gives us a glimpse of the rear. In it we can see four exhaust outlets arranged in a different way (diagonally) in relation to the VZ 2.0 TSI, in addition to a rear diffuser of also different design. Also note the small “VZ5” emblem on the right over the tailgate.

It should also be noted that this is the first time that Audi has allowed another brand in the Volkswagen Group to use its precious and full of character five-cylinder in-line. After rumors in the past that the Volkswagen Tiguan R would resort to this propellant, which ended up not happening, it will be up to CUPRA to be (at the moment) the only one to do so.
