Audi electrifies itself in Paris with the e-tron

After being unveiled in San Francisco the Audi e-tron was presented to the public at the Paris Salon. There are still no definitive official data, but those responsible for the German brand hope that the new model will reach autonomy values close to 450 km (to face the 470 km announced by rival Jaguar i-Pace).

One of the highlights of the Audi e-tron is that it makes it possible to dispense with rear-view mirrors, replacing them with cameras that project images captured on two screens placed in the doors, thus making the e-tron the first production vehicle without rear-view mirrors.

Regarding the battery, Audi announces charging times ranging from 30 min to around 80% of the battery capacity in a 150 kW quick charging station, up to 8.5 hours if you choose to charge the SUV in an 11-inch domestic wallbox kW (which can be shortened to just 4 hours if the charger is 22 kW).

408 hp? Only in Boost mode

Although Audi has bet heavily on the autonomy issue, power has not been forgotten, with the e-tron's two electric motors (one on each axle, therefore all-wheel drive) delivering a combined maximum power of 408 hp and a torque of 660 Nm in Boost mode and 360 hp and 561 Nm in normal mode. To power both engines, the new Audi has a battery with a capacity of 95 kWh (only surpassed by the one found in the Tesla S P100D).

As for performance, the Audi e-tron meets 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4s (in Boost mode the value is reduced to 5.5s) and reaches a maximum speed of 200 km/h, electronically limited.

To help increase autonomy, the new Audi model also has an energy recovery system that, according to the brand, can restore up to 30% of the battery's capacity, working in two modes: it regenerates energy when you take your foot off the throttle like when we brake.

The arrival of the new Audi e-tron in the main European markets is scheduled for the end of this year.
