Honda revealed in Paris the official data of its first hybrid SUV destined for the European continent. Having already seen it at this year's Geneva Motor Show, the new CR-V has now been shown in hybrid version in the French capital.

Thus, for the hybrid that replaced the Diesel offer in the Japanese SUV range, Honda announces consumption figures of 5.3 l/100km and CO2 emissions of 120 g/km for the two-wheel drive version. The all-wheel drive version consumes 5.5 l/100km and emits 126 g/km of CO2 emissions (values obtained according to NEDC).

Common to the two- and four-wheel drive versions is the power value of the CR-V Hybrid, which features a 2.0 i-VTEC that in conjunction with the hybrid system delivers 184 hp . In addition to the hybrid version, the Honda CR-V will also be available with the 1.5 VTEC Turbo engine, already used in the Honda Civic, in two power levels: 173 hp and 220 Nm of torque when equipped with the six-speed manual transmission and 193 hp and 243 Nm of torque with CVT box.

First gasoline then hybrid

Although the first European Honda CR-V units are scheduled to arrive this autumn, it will be necessary to wait for the start of next year for the hybrid, since in the initial marketing phase it will only be available the 1.5 VTEC Turbo . The petrol version will be available in front or all-wheel drive versions.

The hybrid system used by the Honda CR-V is designated i-MMD (Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive) and can automatically change between the three driving modes: EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive. The system consists of two engines, an electric and a gasoline engine that can function as power generator to recharge the hybrid system batteries.

The new Honda CR-V Hybrid uses the same transmission system used by electric cars, using a fixed gear ratio, without a clutch, which allows torque to be transferred in a smoother and more fluid way. Despite reaching the stands this year, there is still no data on prices.
