THE new 1.3 TCe engine developed jointly between the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and Daimler (Mercedes-Benz) now arrives at the French brand, through the Renault Megane and also the Renault Kadjar — soon to come to more models.
The full-strength introduction of the WLTP protocol, affecting official CO2 emissions figures, also served as a motto for updating the prices of the popular French model.
The Renault Mégane continues to multiply into three bodies: the hatchback five-door hatchback, the Sport Tourer estate vehicle and the hatchback four-door hatchback Grand Coupé.
Engines
The introduction of the new 1.3 TCe , replacing the previous 1.2 TCe, is the big news for 2019 in the Renault Mégane engines chapter. In addition to 1.3 TCe, available in three power levels, 115 hp, 140 hp, 160 hp ; Mégane also offers a Diesel engine, the revised 1.5 Blue dCi with 115 hp.
The transmission is via a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed EDC dual-clutch gearbox — the latter available on all engines except the 115hp TCe.
At the top of the hierarchy of engines in the Mégane range is, of course, the 1.8 TCe of 280 hp of Mégane R.S. — it will soon be accompanied by the 1.8 TCe of 300 hp of the Mégane R.S. Trophy — which can be combined with a six-speed manual gearbox or the EDC, with a double clutch, also with six speeds.
To comply with the Euro6D-TEMP emission standard, all petrol engines come with a particulate filter.
Equipment Levels
In addition to the specific Mégane R.S., the rest of the range is available in five equipment levels:- Zen — only available on Blue dCi 115hp and manual gearbox, and on five-door hatchback and Sport Tourer bodywork
- Limited — available on all engines except the 160hp TCe and all bodyworks
- GT Line — available in Blue dCi 115 hp and TCe 140 hp, in five-door (hatchback) and Sport Tourer bodywork
- Bose Edition — available in Blue dCi 115 hp and TCe 160 hp, in five-door (hatchback) and Sport Tourer bodywork
- Executive — available on all engines except the 160hp TCe and the Grand Coupé only
