Renault Clio GT 120 EDC: RS seasoning

Anonim

For those looking for an SUV with a sporty flavor, the French brand has developed the Renault Clio GT 120 EDC.

Sporty in appearance, this GT version is sufficiently different from the “normal” Renault Clios to make some heads turn in its wake. The Malt Blue color of the tested unit combined with the darkened 17’’ wheels bear some responsibility (a lot!).

Underneath the sportswear of this Renault Clio GT is a 1.2 TCe engine with 120hp and 190Nm of torque, enough to print lively paces – although to take full advantage of it it is necessary to ramp up, which will consequently increase consumption beyond 8 liters per 100 km. In more measured paces, the engine's elasticity is the dominant note, allowing you to roll smoothly at any speed with more rational consumption.

But before getting into more monotonous details it must be added that although the noise coming from the exhaust system is not very exciting (compared to the Clio RS) the experience behind the wheel is improved with the use of the R Sound Effects RS.

This system reproduces the sound of the best vehicles of the Renault Nissan joint venture through the loudspeakers. This system works in sync with the accelerator and gearbox. We chose the sound of the Nissan GT-R for the obvious reasons, which made the modest 120hp drop quickly to 500hp – can we dream right?

In dynamic terms this Renault Clio GT stands out for its RS Mode button located on the center console. Button that activates the Renault Sport mode, and that makes the accelerator more sensitive to the touch, although the box does not follow this speed.

Relatively affordable, with a base price of €20,780 and already well equipped, but where we can still add small perks like this magnificent blue color (€650). The Renault Clio GT comes as standard with the R-Link system, which for an additional €250 can be complemented by the R.S. Monitor 2.0 system which monitors the car's performance, G forces and many other details such as water temperature, oil or brakes. Details worthy of the Gran Turismo game.

It is equipped as standard with automatic air conditioning, rain and light sensors, regulator and speed limiter, parking sensors (optional rear camera) and the R-Link system, where they have a navigation system, internet connection, Bluetooth connection, USB and hands-free kit.
