Two months after Mecum Auctions auctioned one of the 1,672 BMW 2002 Turbo units, another example of the German model appeared in search of a new owner.

Announced on the Bring A Trailer website, this 1974 Turbo from 1974 painted in the color “Polaris Metallic” (there are only 614 copies in this color) is being auctioned until 23 May and, for now, the highest bid is at 119,500 dollars (about 98 thousand euros).

The BMW 2002 Turbo was one of the first production cars equipped with a turbo, and was even the first European car to be equipped with one. And it was he who started the M division. Its relevance is indisputable.

Under the hood is the M10, the 2.0 l in-line four-cylinder block, to which a 0.55 bar KKK turbo has been added that helps it deliver 170 hp and 240 Nm.

Everything was sent to the rear wheels through a manual gearbox with four ratios, and when charging less than 1100 kg, about seven seconds were enough to reach 100 km/h and the top speed exceeded 210 km/h — values ​​that commanded respect when it was new.
