Official. From 2030 all Fords in Europe will be electric

Having just returned to profitability in Europe (achieved in the fourth quarter of 2020), Ford Europe is preparing to operate a “revolution” in its range in the “Old Continent”.

With an investment in electrification globally and by 2025 of at least 22 billion dollars (about 18 billion euros), we will feel it clearly and intensely in Europe.

Proof of this is the announcement that from 2030 the entire range of Ford Europe passenger vehicles will be exclusively electric. Before that, in mid-2026, that same range will already have zero emissions capability — whether through electric or plug-in hybrid models.

At the same time, the entire range of Ford Europe commercial vehicles will in 2024 be capable of being equipped with zero-emission variants, also using 100% electric models or plug-in hybrids. By 2030, two-thirds of commercial vehicle sales are expected to be 100% electric or plug-in hybrid models.

Factory in Cologne leads the way

Perhaps the best example of this commitment to electrification is the large investment that Ford Europe is preparing to make in its factory in Cologne, Germany.

One of the largest production centers in Europe and headquarters of Ford Europe, this unit will be the target of an investment of one billion dollars with the objective of preparing it for the production of electric vehicles, transforming it into the “Ford Cologne Electrification Center” .

It is there that Ford plans to produce, from 2023 onwards, its first electric model designed for Europe, with the production of an additional model being considered.

We will deliver an exceptional range of electrified vehicles, backed by customer-centric digital experiences and services.

commercials are crucial

Market leader among commercial vehicles in Europe for six consecutive years, Ford is aware of the importance of this segment for its growth and profitability.

That said, the North American brand intends to drive growth in this segment based not only on partnerships, such as its alliance with Volkswagen or its joint venture Ford Otosan, but also through connected services.

Some of these services are “FordPass Pro”, an uptime and productivity manager, for fleets with up to five vehicles, or “Ford Fleet Management”, a solution created together with ALD Automotive.
