The numbers are from JATO Dynamics and confirm the unprecedented moment in the European car market that occurred in September: for the first time, more electrified vehicles (hybrid, plug-in hybrids and 100% electric) were sold than models with diesel engines!

In a market where the effects of the pandemic continue to be felt, in September the market share of cars with diesel engines dropped to 25%. The drop was also felt in models with gasoline engines, with the 59% share in September 2019 dropping to 47% in September this year.

In contrast, electrified vehicles saw their market share reach 25% in September (more than double the share achieved in the same month last year), with a total of 327 800 electrified cars registered in the last month alone.

With the European market still grappling with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the figures released by JATO Dynamics show that in September there was, surprisingly, a growth of 1% compared to the same period last year, with a total of 1.3 million of cars sold.

What underlies these results?

Quoted by Autocar, Felipe Munoz, an analyst at JATO Dynamics says that "although these results are largely due to government policies and incentives, consumers are already ready to adopt these new technologies."
