After a few months we learned that the IONIQ designation has been promoted from model to brand name (although it is not entirely clear whether IONIQ will actually be an independent brand or whether its models will continue to bear the Hyundai symbol), the arrival of IONIQ 5 , its first model, is getting closer.
Based on the Hyundai Concept 45, presented at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, the IONIQ 5 is a CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) and will be the first model of the new make, with its launch scheduled for the beginning of 2021.
This will be based on the new platform exclusively dedicated to electric models by the Hyundai Motor Group, the E-GMP and it will be the first in a series of models, followed by the IONIQ 6, a sedan, and the IONIQ 7, an SUV.

Contrary to what is usual, the teaser revealed by Hyundai shows nothing of the lines of the future model (is it because they don't differ much from the prototype?). Thus, according to Hyundai, “the 30-second video, entitled “The New Horizon of EV”, is inspired by the new design details of the IONIQ 5 (…) allowing to preview pixels and dots that converge in a representative white space. of a new EV era”.

Apparently, the goal of the South Korean brand with this unusual teaser was to "anticipate and arouse curiosity about the IONIQ 5, highlighting three "extras" offered by this brand-new model."
What are these extras? According to Hyundai, they are “Extra Power for Life”, a reference to the vehicle-to-load (V2L) bidirectional load capacity provided by the new platform; the “Extra Time for You”, which refers to the fast charging capacity and the “Extraordinary Experiences”, an allusion to the functionalities of the electric vehicles that will be announced shortly.
