To demonstrate the towing capability of the Land Rover Discovery Sport, the British brand put its SUV to the test in a radical challenge in Switzerland.

Despite having a maximum towing capacity of 2.5 tonnes, the Land Rover Discovery Sport was able to tow three carriages of a train with a total of over 100 tonnes, 58 times its weight, thanks to its 180 hp diesel engine. power and 430 Nm of maximum torque.

The test was carried out on a 10 km route along the Rhine River in northern Switzerland, passing over the Hemishofen Bridge, and took advantage of the brand's towing and traction technologies. According to the engineers, the vehicle's traction unit has not been changed; the only modification to the Land Rover Discovery Sport was carried out on the wheels in order to stabilize the vehicle so that it could travel on the rails.

“Towing capability is in the Land Rover's DNA, and Discovery Sport is no exception. Over the years, we've introduced new technologies to facilitate and increase towing capacity. During my professional career I have traveled through the most inhospitable places in the world to test the capabilities of Land Rover vehicles, however, this is the most radical test I have ever done”.
