In a marketing ploy, Range Rover is rushing to take the new Range Rover Evoque Autobiography and Range Rover Evoque Autobiography Dinamic to the Geneva Motor Show, to showcase the full range of newly introduced technology.
In a world where apps for everything and more already exist, Range Rover is no exception and also wants to set the trend, with the newly created Land Rover InControl app, which will debut on Evoque and which in the future will expand to the entire remaining range. The particularity of this app, for vehicles with an infotainment system optimized for these applications, is that it allows drivers to control their smartphone through the vehicle's touchscreen.
The Range Rover Evoque Autobiography and Range Rover Evoque Autobiography Dinamic stand out clearly from the rest of the Evoque range, with bodywork accents to convey a more dynamic look and a new redesigned front grille. The front and rear optics get a new treatment, which Range Rover dubs a 'jewel finish', along with new 20-inch forged wheels. Also in the visual chapter we have this new color, present in the Evoque of the photos, called “Phoenix orange”.
Inside, the watchwords are refinement and luxury. The Range Rover Evoque Autobiography and Range Rover Evoque Autobiography Dinamic get the best skin, in a variety of tones.
On the mechanical plane lie the big news. In the Range Rover Evoque Autobiography, whether in the 240 horsepower gasoline version or the 190 horsepower diesel version, we will now rely on the services of the new ZF automatic transmission with 9 ratios, combined with all-wheel drive.
According to Range Rover, this new ZF gearbox is smoother, faster and decisive when it comes to registering lower consumption in the Evoque.
Another of the big news comes in the Range Rover Evoque Autobiography Dinamic, only available with the 2.0 turbo block, but with a gain of 45 horses, that is, the original 240 horse block, starts to charge 285 horses in the Range Rover Evoque Autobiography Dinamic and 400Nm of maximum torque, all transmitted to the wheels by the new 9-speed ZF gearbox.
But the news is not exhausted here. There is a new optional all-wheel drive system for all Evoque versions, available only as standard on the Range Rover Evoque Autobiography Dinamic: the new Active Driveline, one of the world's first to combine different technologies.
Active Driveline is the 1st all-wheel drive system that responds fully in real time depending on traction conditions and driving style, transforming the Evoque into an AWD car, which can either be in 2WD mode or immediately afterwards in 4WD mode, all this automatically without driver intervention.
In the case of Range Rover Evoque Autobiography Dinamic, in addition to the Active Driveline system, there are other improvements. The chassis has been fully tuned, features a new suspension geometry combined with firmer springs, along with self-adaptive dampers, with improved steering response and without compromising rolling smoothness.
What makes Active Driveline a pioneering all-wheel drive system is that it is combined with the braking torque vectoring system (until now most AWD systems only had torque vectoring during acceleration), which helps a lot to reduce understeer on surfaces with little or a lot of traction, improving the Evoque's dynamic response. For the Evoque to be able to immobilize itself effectively, this new version has 350mm discs on the front.
270,000 units sold and 157 international awards later, Range Rover's best seller, the Range Rover Evoque, now gains more exclusivity arguments combined with a sportier character.
