Following the examples of the Land Rover Defender and Discovery Sport and the Range Rover Evoque, also the Range Rover Velar preparing to be updated to 2021.

Aesthetically, the SUV launched in 2017 will remain unchanged, with the news being reserved for the technological field and for the offer of engines.

Starting with the technology chapter, Velar will receive the new Pivi and Pivi Pro infotainment system. This not only promises to be faster and more responsive, but also offers greater connectivity, simplified interaction, allows remote updates and even makes it possible to integrate two smartphones into simultaneous.

As for the Pivi Pro system, it has a dedicated and independent rechargeable energy source — which allows more immediate access to the infotainment system — and manages to integrate our customs and preferences, even automating the activation of some of our preferences.

And the engines?

As we told you, in addition to technological updates, the big news for 2021 for the Range Rover Velar are found under the bonnet. For starters, the British SUV will receive a plug-in hybrid variant, called the P400e, which uses the same mechanics used by the “cousin” Jaguar F-Pace.

Equipped with a 2.0 l four-cylinder engine that comes together with a 105 kW electric motor (with 143 hp) that is powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 17.1 kWh, this plug-in hybrid version offers power. combined maximum of 404 hp and 640 Nm.

Capable of traveling up to 53 km in 100% electric mode, the Velar P400e can be recharged to 80% in just 30 minutes on a 32 kW charging socket.

As for the other engines, the Range Rover Velar will also receive the new generation of Ingenium engines with 3.0 l in-line six cylinders, all of them associated with a mild-hybrid 48V system.

In the case of the petrol variants, the P340 and P400, they offer, respectively, 340 hp and 480 Nm and with 400 hp and 550 Nm. The Diesel version, on the other hand, the D300 has 300 hp of power and 650 Nm of torque.

Finally, the range of powertrains for the Range Rover Velar is completed with the arrival of yet another diesel engine. Also belonging to the Ingenium “family”, it has only four cylinders, offers 204 hp and is associated with a 48V mild-hybrid system that allows it to announce consumption of 6.3 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 165 g/ km.
