Crisis? Volvo XC40 doesn't care and sales are booming in 2020

In an automobile market heavily affected by the covid-19 pandemic, the Volvo XC40 seems immune to all negative results. In the first seven months of 2020 saw sales grow compared to the same period in 2019.

In total, between January and July this year, 87 085 units of the XC40, a value that represents a 18% increase compared to 2019.

Associated with this increase in sales of the Volvo XC40 may be the fact that the plug-in hybrid version of the Swedish SUV has already reached the main markets, benefiting in many of them from the various existing incentives for the purchase of plug-in hybrid models.

Launched in 2018, the Volvo XC40 had the “honor” of inaugurating the new CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform at the Swedish manufacturer. In addition, the XC40 was also the first Volvo to win the Car of The Year trophy, having been awarded the same shortly after its introduction in 2018.

Thanks to its use of the CMA platform, the XC40 has a range of powertrains ranging from conventional gasoline and diesel engines to mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.

The arrival of the XC40 Recharge, the 100% electric variant of the Scandinavian small SUV and the first 100% electric Volvo, is scheduled for 2021.
