With the goal of having sold one million electrified vehicles around the world by 2025, Volvo Cars is betting heavily on plug-in hybrids and the Volvo S60 Recharge is an example of this bet.

As we announced to you a few months ago, to boost sales of its electrified models Volvo decided that they should all be given the designation “Recharge” and therefore the plug-in hybrid variant of the S60 has changed its name.

Equipped with the T8 plug-in gasoline engine, the S60 Recharge comes in three versions — R-Design, Inscription and Polestar Engineered.

The R-Design and Inscription versions have a combined power of 390 hp. The Polestar Engineered variant has 405 hp. Common to all is the use of an eight-speed automatic transmission (torque converter) and all-wheel drive.

The S60 Recharge has an electrical autonomy of up to 45 km, not differing much from other plug-in hybrid proposals from the Swedish manufacturer that also use the SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) platform, namely the S90 and V90, XC60 and V60.
